A band of happy crazy Belgians, formers UNIVERS ZERO or MAXIMALISTS! members have created a new urban chamber rock music: cycles of string instruments and saxophone with amazing rhythms take you far, very far, to unexplored territories.
-Musea-
Acoustic, electric, atomique and electric. This is urban chamber music, inspired by the avant-garde, influenced by many cultures. At times funny and intense, at others relaxing. Jacques TATI meets Terry RILEY in Hungary. The band is hard to categorise. Not acoustic, not classical, not central or eastern European – but certainly a bit of all these with a good dose of revolutionary rhythms, humour and unusual harmonies thrown in.
-Carbon 7-
Composed and arranged Belgian-school instrumental ensemble pieces, with more electronic and sampled sounds added (to good effect). Very precise and neat work, with some great parts and generally all very listenable and considered. Good variety – and when it is good it is very very good indeed.
-ReR-
Stefan Coltura: violin
Rudy Mollekens: bass guitar
Koen Van Roy: soprano, alto and baritone sax
Rik Verstrepen: violin, keyboards
Geert Waegeman: keyboards, sampling, violin, guitar

Thanks Jorge for your feedback!
They are one of my prefered avant-prog band, no doubt
Thanks! I have been looking for some Cro Magnon! Have you got more albums by them?
thanks for this post, never heard of them but after your description I must hear this thanks again
Terrific stuff, full of wit and invention. Did they make any more records? Whatever, many thanks for this. You’re got yourself one of the very few genuinely original music blogs here.
They have more 2 albums:
Cro Magnon – Bull (1997) and Cro Magnon & [Bub] – Brosella Suite (2003).
This second one is a interesting blend of Avant-prog with BUB avant-folk music.
Soon I will post these stuff
Two more albums you say. I look forward to hearing them both soon! I’m in the UK and neither seem to have been released here.
